About

Beth Cochrane is a cultural programmer, producer, and writer based in Edinburgh, Scotland.

With a specialism in literary events and festivals, she has developed and delivered live event programmes, both on-site and digitally, for leading cultural organisations such as Bradford Literature Festival, The National Library of Scotland, Push the Boat Out, and the Scottish Poetry Library.

While Beth was Programme Manager at Push the Boat Out in 2022, the festival was awarded the Edinburgh City Award by Creative Edinburgh, celebrating and recognising the programme – and wider festival’s – intrinsic link to the city. Her spoken word night, Interrobang?!, was awarded Best Spoken Word Night (UK) at the Saboteur Awards in 2017.

As a fiction writer and poet, Beth has won a Scottish Book Trust New Writers Award, an Emerging Writer Residency at Cove Park, and was awarded the University of Edinburgh’s Sloan Prize for her writing in Scots. Her short stories and poetry have been published by Gutter, Structo, Speculative Books, SPAM, and 404 Ink, amongst others. She has given readings and presented spoken word shows at events and festival such as Edinburgh International Book Festival, Hidden Door, Edinburgh Student Arts Festival, and Oxjam. Beth is currently working on her debut novel.
