Writing

I’m predominantly a fiction writer, working on short stories and a debut novel. I’m fascinated by all-things that age, grow wildly, and decay, and how we can save space for humour, wit, and heart in difficult discussions.

In 2015 I was awarded the Sloan Prize by the University of Edinburgh for my short fiction in Scots. I’ve also been given a Scottish Book Trust New Writers Award (2018) and a Cove Park Emerging Writer in Residence Award (2021).

My fiction and poetry have been published widely by magazines and publishers such as Gutter, --Algia, Riggwelter, 404 Ink, Speculative Books, Structo, and SPAM. I’ve also performed on stages (both as a solo performer and in collectives) at Hidden Door, Edinburgh International Book Festival, Oxjam, Edinburgh Student Arts Festival, and many more.

I’ve also hosted writing and performance workshops for numerous organisations, including the National Library of Scotland, the John Byrne Award, and the Fire Starter Festival. I love helping other writers develop their craft or gain confidence at a microphone and find workshop hosting an incredibly enriching experience.

I’m currently working on my first novel.
